PREVENTIVE VISUALIZATION OF CRIME

The National Model of Community Surveillance by Quadrants (MNVCC, by its Spanish acronym) is the work methodology of the National Police oriented to the identification and solution of the problems and manifestations of violence and criminality that threaten citizen coexistence and security in urban and rural areas. Its implementation must consider several interrelated dimensions and require permanent monitoring and socialization.

A mobile application that incorporates information from the state of the art on crime predictive models was developed jointly with the Secretariat of Security of Bogotá, as part of the strategy for the continuous improvement of the operation of the MNVCC. The application offers the personnel of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police the possibility of consulting heat maps and identifying critical road segments depending on the quadrant and the time of day. The application is in the stage of being tested and integrated into the Community Surveillance Information System by Quadrants (SIVICC)
