In this talk, Tomás —a graduate of Universidad de los Andes and PhD from Stanford— takes us on a theoretical and analytical journey to examine one of today’s most pressing questions: how political and social fragmentation, shaped by technology, is affecting our societies’ ability to reach agreements and drive transformation.
Using tools from game theory and coalition models, this presentation offers a fresh perspective on the dynamics between collective identities, intermediate communication networks, and the challenges faced by large coalitions in democratic contexts. It also reflects on whether fragmentation is a barrier—or rather an opportunity—for building new forms of social integration.
